Winners of the Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest 2024 Revealed!
The much-anticipated results of the Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest 2024 are finally in, and what an amazing collection of artwork we’ve seen this year! With the theme “Magical Pokémon Moments,” artists from around the world showcased their talents, creating pieces that captured the heart and soul of the Pokémon universe.

The winners not only receive prize money, but their artwork will also be immortalised as official Pokémon TCG promo cards—how exciting!
- Grand Prize Winner: Kazuki Minami’s breathtaking Pikachu illustration wowed the judges with its heartwarming and cute depiction of Pikachu mid-yawn. Judges noted the charming atmosphere, saying, “It captures a candid, magical moment, with Pikachu’s cuteness taking center stage. The background’s detailed realism beautifully contrasts with Pikachu’s softness, making the character feel perfectly at home in the scene.”
- Best Standard Card Illustration: The award for Best Standard Card Illustration went to Acorviart for their Feraligatr artwork. Judges praised the individuality of the style, remarking, “This piece invites you into Feraligatr’s world, almost like peeking through a lens. The relaxed underwater scene is brought to life with simple lines and textures that enhance the Pokémon’s natural charm.”
- Best ex Card Illustration: Anderson took home this award for their dynamic and striking Toxtricity EX card. According to the judges, “The artist has expertly captured Toxtricity’s electric energy. The angle and electric-shock effects highlight the Pokémon’s wild dynamism, making this illustration both delicate and powerful at the same time.”
There were many fantastic runners-up as well, including standout pieces from Devin Elle Kurtz, tayu, and Royce Li. Our personal favorite is a Flygon piece that blew us away with its serene beauty. We can’t wait to see these illustrations turn into actual cards in the near future!
Scarlet & Violet - Super Electric Breaker Set Officially Revealed
Pokémon fans, get ready for an electrifying new set! The latest addition to the Pokémon TCG, Scarlet & Violet – Super Electric Breaker, was officially unveiled during the Champions League 2025 Tokyo livestream, and its generating major buzz.
Slated for release on October 18, 2024, this set introduces exciting new cards that collectors and players alike will want to get their hands on.
Key highlights include
- Pikachu ex as a Stellar-type ex Pokémon, complete with stunning new artwork.
- New cards featuring popular Pokémon like Terapagos and Magnezone.
- The debut of a new ACE SPEC card called Miraculous Intercom, along with Exciting Stadium, Gravity Mountain, and a Fluorite Tool card.
- A brand-new Supporter card called Cyrano from the Indigo Disk of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokémon TCG Pocket Soft-Launch in New Zealand: New Digital Cards Revealed
If you’re a fan of digital card collecting, there’s big news for you! The Pokémon TCG Pocket app has officially soft-launched in New Zealand, giving early access players a sneak peek at the new Genetic Apex set, which is exclusive to this digital platform.
While we’ll have to wait until October 30th for the global release, some incredible new cards have already been revealed.
Fans are raving about the artwork in the digital set, which has prompted many to wish they could be printed as physical cards. While that may not happen just yet, we can still dream!
