WLC's Complete Guide to the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Set
The recent pre-order event at the Pokémon Center has ignited huge excitement for the return of one of the game’s most celebrated mechanics. The upcoming Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution set is poised to be a landmark release, and the community is rightly buzzing with questions. This guide will serve as your central resource for all confirmed details about the set, its products, and how you can prepare for its official UK release on September 26, 2025.

Deep Dive: What to Expect from the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Set
The return of Mega Evolution brings with it a massive expansion. The English release will draw from Japan’s Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia sets and is confirmed to feature a main set of over 180 cards, not including secret rares.
Here are the key details that make this set so compelling for collectors and players:
- 10 Confirmed Mega Evolution Pokémon ex: The lineup is stacked with powerful fan-favourites, including Venusaur, Camerupt, Abomasnow, Gardevoir, Lucario, Absol, Mawile, Latias, and Kangaskhan.
- A New Full Art Style: A major highlight is the debut of a new full art style for Mega Evolution Pokémon ex. These cards will feature a distinct silhouette of the Pokémon’s regular form alongside its Mega Evolved artwork, creating a unique and desirable collector’s piece.
- Massive Chase Potential: The set is loaded with high-rarity cards. Confirmed numbers include 22 Illustration Rares and 10 Special Illustration Rares featuring both Pokémon ex and Supporters. In a first for the TCG, this will also extend to full art Item, Stadium, and Pokémon Tool cards, adding a whole new layer for collectors to chase.

Recent product images have revealed an interesting change for Mega Evolution booster packs. Going forward, packs will no longer contain both a Basic Energy card and a code card for the Pokémon TCG Live. Instead, each pack will include either an Energy card or a code card.
While this means fewer physical code cards, players of the digital game won’t miss out. Coinciding with this, the Pokémon TCG Live app recently updated its own in-game booster packs to now contain 10 cards instead of the previous 5. This ensures that players will still receive the same total number of digital cards from their purchases.
