The Arrival of Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals at WLC
The official launch of Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals is this Friday, May 30th. This expansion has been particularly noteworthy for the return of “Team Rocket” themed cards and a selection of new Trainer cards, which many players are discussing online for their potential to shift gameplay dynamics.
At our Margate store, in Westwood Business Park, we hosted our pre-release event for Destined Rivals. A great, early opportunity for our local Pokémon enthusiasts and wider community to get involved and experience the new set. Following this, initial WLC stock of Destined Rivals products, including Booster Boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes, and Blister Packs, became available in-store today – Tuesday, May 27th. Of course, these items saw very high demand and sold out quickly.

Pokémon TCG Pocket: New Content & Events
The digital Pokémon TCG Pocket app is introducing a new booster pack, “Extradimensional Crisis,” on May 29th, which will feature Ultra Beast Pokémon. There’s some community chatter wondering if any popular Ultra Beasts from Pocket might eventually see new physical card variants (we hope so!).
Future Outlook: 2025 Pokémon TCG Roadmap
Looking ahead, the 2025 Pokémon TCG schedule includes the Unova-focused expansions, Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare, set for release on July 18th. These are expected to feature all 156 Unova region Pokémon as illustration rares or special illustration rares, which has collectors particularly excited. The planned reintroduction of Mega Evolution Pokémon ex later in 2025, coinciding with the Pokémon Legends: Z-A game, also continues to be a hot topic. Many are speculating which Pokémon will be the first to receive the new Mega ex treatment and how their abilities might compare to past Mega Evolutions.
