Dive into the World of "Battle Partners"!
The first Japanese set of 2025, SV9 Scarlet & Violet Expansion Pack “Battle Partners,” is set to release on January 24, 2025! This set is generating a lot of buzz, especially with the introduction of Trainer’s Pokémon, teased earlier this year at Worlds 2024.
Check out our previous page, where we discussed the teasers from Worlds 2024 – Pokémon TCG 2025 Preview: Trainer’s Pokémon and Team Rocket’s Comeback!
These cards will be a game-changer! We will see these cards in English in our Journey Together set on March 28th. Some of the English cards were already revealed in August at Worlds.
One of the standout cards revealed is Iono’s Bellibolt ex:
- Iono’s Bellibolt ex – Lightning – HP280
- Stage 1 – Evolves from Iono’s Tadbulb
- Ability: Electric Streamer – As often as you like during your turn, you may attach a Basic Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Iono’s Pokémon.
- Thunderous Bolt: 230 damage. During your next turn, this Pokémon can’t attack.
- Pokemon ex rule: When your Pokemon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.
- Weakness: Fighting (x2)
- Resistance: none
- Retreat: 2
- Another beautiful SAR that’ll surely be a big hit in the new set – but we haven’t seen much as of yet!
Also revealed was Iono’s Wattrel card. This appears to be a promotional card for those in Japan who purchase a booster box of “Battle Partners” at participating retailers. It’s likely that we’ll receive this to as a promotional card, perhaps within our Journey Together ETB or from the Pokémon Centre.

New "Battle Partners" Products Revealed!
Alongside the “Battle Partners” set, several exciting products have been announced:
- Pokémon Card Game Scarlet & Violet Deck Build Box Battle Partners: This box includes 10 packs of “Battle Partners,” 171 cards (53 types), a card storage box, and card dividers, providing everything you need to start playing!
- Pokémon Card Game Scarlet & Violet Card Binder Set N: This set includes a “N’s Zorua” promo card (mirror foil), an “N” card file (80 card capacity), 6 packs of “Battle Partners,” and a Pokémon Coin.
- Pokémon Card Game Scarlet & Violet Card Binder Set Lillie: This set includes a “Lillie’s Comfey” promo card (mirror foil), a “Lillie” card file (80 card capacity), 6 packs of “Battle Partners,” and a Pokémon Coin.
No new information as of yet when it comes to the English alternative products, but these give us some indication of what we can expect. Regardless, we’ll be sure to have both English and Japanese Pokémon TCG products available in store close to their release in 2025.
