Disney Lorcana is about to enter a revolutionary new chapter with its ninth release, Fabled. This set is poised to be one of the most talked-about in the game’s history, introducing the very first set rotation, a unique focus on reprinting classic cards, and two ground-breaking new card rarities that will have collectors racing to complete their collections.

When Does Lorcana: Fabled Release?
The official mass retail release date for Disney Lorcana: Fabled is September 5, 2025. As is tradition, local game stores (like us at WLC!) will hopefully have the product slightly earlier, from August 29, 2025.
Set Rotation Begins: A New Era for Lorcana
The biggest news surrounding Fabled is the introduction of set rotation for the Core Constructed format. This means the first four sets are rotating out of competitive play:
This keeps the game fresh and accessible for new players. The Disney Lorcana Fabled set is designed to support this transition, with a massive 171 of its 204 cards being reprints of key cards from those first four sets. While this means only 33 mechanically new cards, it’s the perfect way for players to get staples for the new era.
For fans of the older cards, don’t worry! The “Infinity Constructed” format will still allow you to play with cards from any set. It’s a great time to pick up packs from recent sets like Shimmering Skies and Reign of Jafar to get ready for the new format, or grab some Ursula’s Return packs for your Infinity decks!
The Chase Intensifies: Meet Epic & Iconic Rares
To keep the collecting excitement at a fever pitch, Ravensburger is introducing two stunning new rarities that sit above Legendary.
- Epic Cards: Sitting between Legendary and Enchanted, there will be 18 Epic cards in Fabled. These feature beautiful “open-air” borderless frames and a vibrant rainbow foil treatment, offering a more attainable chase for collectors.
- Iconic Cards: The new pinnacle of rarity in Lorcana. Only two Iconic cards will appear per set, starting with Mickey Mouse – Brave Little Prince and Minnie Mouse – Sweetheart Princess. These feature full alternate art with no borders, a custom “lore star” foil pattern, and incredible 3D hot stamp effects for a raised texture. They are confirmed to be rarer than Enchanted cards.
New Faces Join the Fray: A Goofy Movie & Dumbo Arrive!
It’s not all reprints! Fabled is finally bringing characters from A Goofy Movie into the game to celebrate the film’s 30th anniversary. The iconic rock star Powerline makes his debut as a Ruby Singer, alongside famous song cards like “I2I” and “Stand Out”.
The classic film Dumbo also takes flight! Dumbo – The Flying Elephant and Timothy Q. Mouse – Flight Instructor will introduce new Evasive-focused strategies for Amethyst players to explore.
