UPDATE: A few new Illustration Rares and a Stellar type Alolan Exeggutor SIR were revealed at Pokémon Worlds 2024 in Honolulu for this set, coming in September. A fair few chase cards for many to be sure!
Themed Around Dragons & Tropical Paradise
As the name suggests, Paradise Dragona spotlights Dragon-type Pokémon and trainers associated with them. The set combines a strong summer theme with powerful dragon Pokémon, creating a unique and exciting collection.
We can expect to see fan favourites like Latias & Latios making appearances. The set also introduces more Stellar-type Tera Pokémon ex, with Alolan Exeggutor taking center stage in its Stellar form.
It appears that the Pokémon Company are continuing on with the Stellar-type Pokémon introduced in Stellar Miracle – which we’ll see, eventually in September with Stellar Crown.
We have Stellar Miracle boxes available in store, should you like to purchase some!

New Trainer Cards
- Drayton: A supporter card that allows you to search for both a Pokémon and a Trainer card from the top 7 cards of your deck.
- Lisia’s Appeal: A disruptive supporter that switches one of your opponent’s Benched Basic Pokémon to the Active Spot and confuses it.
Exciting New Mechanics
The set introduces some intriguing new cards that could shake up the meta:
- Dragon’s Potion: An item card specifically for healing 60 damage from your Active Dragon-type Pokémon.
- Rich Energy: An ACE SPEC special energy card that provides Colorless energy and allows you to draw 4 cards when attached.
- Dusk Ball: A reprinted item card that lets you search for a Pokémon from the bottom 7 cards of your deck.
Other Notable Cards
- Exeggcute: Features a “Precocious Evolution” attack, allowing first-turn evolution if going first.
- Passimian: Attack does damage based on the number of your Basic Pokémon in play.
- Dialga: Includes a “Time Control” attack for deck manipulation.
- Altaria: Features attacks that can charge energy and potentially prevent damage.
Competitive Potential
With powerful ex cards and support for Dragon-types, Paradise Dragona looks set to make waves in the competitive scene.
The new Stellar Tera-type Pokémon and ACE SPEC card are particularly exciting for players looking to build new strategies.
Cards like Lisia’s Appeal and Dragon’s Potion offer new tactical options, while the Alolan Exeggutor ex presents a formidable threat with its bench-protection ability and powerful attacks.
For Collectors…
Continuing with the recent Scarlett & Violet trend – we hope to see a treasure trove of beautiful Illustration rares. The set is likely to include full-art cards, alternate arts, and secret rares that will be highly sought after. The combination of popular Dragon-type Pokémon with getting the illustrated rare, or stellar-type card, treatment is enough to get us excited!
International Release
While Paradise Dragona is currently slated as a Japanese exclusive, international fans can likely expect these cards to make their way into a future English-language set. Keep an eye out for announcements in the coming months! The set may be incorporated into a larger international release or could form part of a subset in a future expansion – we just don’t know as of yet.
While not confirmed, Dragon-types like Rayquaza or Dragonite could make an appearance, possibly rivalling their popular Evolving Skies counterparts.
We’ll be sure to be ahead of the curve on upcoming Japanese sets – we always have booster boxes in store for the most recent Japanese sets, so you can expect Paradise Dragona from us when it releases in September.
