Welcome, Planeswalkers and collectors! Here at We Love Collectibles, we’re continually expanding our range of Magic: The Gathering products, catering to both seasoned players and those just starting their journey through the multiverse. Whether you’re battling in Commander, drafting the latest set, or hunting for specific cards, we aim to be your hub in Kent and online.
The latest buzz surrounds the recent return to a fan-favourite plane with Tarkir: Dragonstorm, the newest premier set that hit shelves on April 11th. It revisits a world defined by powerful dragons and warring clans, offering both nostalgia and fresh gameplay. Let’s explore what makes this set exciting and check out the other MTG adventures available at WLC.
A World Reshaped:
Welcome Back to Tarkir
Tarkir: Dragonstorm marks Magic’s first return to this war-torn plane in nearly a decade. Tarkir is a world fundamentally shaped by powerful elemental tempests – the dragonstorms – from which dragons are born. Its history was dramatically altered when the planeswalker Sarkhan Vol travelled back in time to save the spirit dragon Ugin from Nicol Bolas. Ugin’s survival ensured the dragons’ eventual dominance over the humanoid clans, creating the timeline players now explore.
Now, a new crisis unfolds. Mysterious Omenpaths, pathways between planes, are causing Tarkir’s dragonstorms to erupt across the multiverse. This existential threat forces the five formidable clans of Tarkir, each embodying a unique three-colour “wedge” identity and philosophy, to adapt and confront dangers beyond their borders.

The Five Clans & Their Mechanics
Each clan in Tarkir: Dragonstorm brings its unique flavour and a signature mechanic reflecting its identity:
Abzan Houses (White-Black-Green): The Abzan focus on endurance, family, and resilience. Their signature mechanic, Endure, lets you choose when a creature endures: either put a number of +1/+1 counters on it or create that many 1/1 white Spirit creature tokens. This flexibility represents the Abzan’s adaptability and strength in unity.
Jeskai Way (Blue-Red-White): The Jeskai value discipline, cunning strategy, and coordinated action. Their Flurry ability word triggers whenever you cast your second spell each turn, granting various bonuses such as drawing cards or dealing damage. This rewards careful sequencing and spellcasting skill.
Sultai Brood (Black-Green-Blue): The Sultai embody ruthlessness, opportunism, and mastery over the graveyard. Their Renew ability can only be activated from the graveyard (and only as a sorcery), exiling the card as part of the cost. Renew abilities often put +1/+1 counters on creatures or grant other powerful effects, reflecting the Sultai’s resourcefulness beyond death.
Mardu Horde (Red-White-Black): The Mardu champion speed, overwhelming aggression, and the glory of battle. Their new keyword is Mobilize, which typically triggers when a creature attacks, creating temporary creature tokens (often 1/1 Warriors with Menace) that are sacrificed at the end of the turn. This fuels relentless, wide attacks.
Temur Frontier (Green-Blue-Red): The Temur represent savagery, shamanistic connection to the wild, and immense power. Their new keyword is Harmonize, which allows you to cast specific spells from your graveyard by tapping untapped creatures you control to help pay the mana cost. This reflects drawing power from the land and your creatures.

One of the biggest chase items from Tarkir Dragonstorm MTG is the stunning Mox Jasper. This new addition to the legendary “Mox” cycle of artifacts is a headliner card for the set, illustrated by the original Mox artist himself, Dan Frazier!
This highly sought-after card appears only in Tarkir: Dragonstorm Collector Boosters, featuring a special retro frame. Even more exclusive is the serialized version, limited to just 500 copies worldwide (numbered XXX/500). These serialized versions can appear in Collector Boosters of any language, but the card text is always in English. While we recently had some Collector Boosters in stock, they sold out very quickly due to the hunt for this incredible artifact – keep an eye out for potential restocks if you’re chasing this ultimate dragon-lover’s prize!
