Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Triumphant Light: Strategy Meets Sinnoh Nostalgia
The digital side of the TCG universe just expanded with Triumphant Light, the fourth expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket. Just Launched on February 27th, this Sinnoh-themed update introduces Link Abilities, a game-changing mechanic anchored by the Mythical Pokémon Arceus.
For collectors, the expansion isn’t just about gameplay. Cards like the shimmering Arceus ex and many of the new showcase, full-art cards are destined to become chase pieces. While Triumphant Light is a mobile update, we hope that the card-art for certain cards, will ripple into the physical TCG world eventually. But it may be unlikely for those wishing to see these digital cards represented as physical cards for collectors of cardboard like us.
Mega Evolutions Return: A Modern Twist on a Classic Mechanic
Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex flashed on screen during the Pokémon Presents stream. After years of absence, Mega Evolutions are back—but not as we remember them. While details remain scarce, the reimagined mechanic promises to blend nostalgia with modern balance, likely avoiding the power creep that defined earlier eras.
- Cross-Media Synergy: The tie-in with Pokémon Legends: Z-A (due late 2025) means themed booster boxes and promos are inevitable. At WLC we’ll be sure to have the latest products, both English and Japanese when they release later this year.
- Early Investment Opportunities: Mega Evolution cards have historically spiked in value post-rotation. Come down to our store, in Westwood Business Park, and explore our binders and singles – we may just have a few cards from the mega-evolution era of the TCG.

Exclusive Promos: Eevee Takes the Spotlight
Dubbed “The Year of Eevee,” 2025 kicked off with a Pokémon Day promo featuring the fan-favorite Evolution Pokémon. This adorable Eevee card, stamped with a commemorative logo, is already a must-have card – continuing the madness of Prismatic Evolution. While the official promo requires purchases through Pokémon Center UK, our physical store in Thanet, Kent expects to see these pass through our doors as collectors trade duplicates or refresh their portfolios.
Meanwhile, the TCG Illustration Contest 2024 winners stole hearts with their “Magical Pokémon Moments” entries. The Pikachu, Feraligatr, and Toxtricity ex promos are certainly worth winners. Though the official release, again, involves a promo code, WLC’s ever-rotating singles archive is a prime spot to snag these later.

Additionally, recently announced was the Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection – while we do not have pre-orders of this product yet, we hope to stock a few if we can get our hands on them for our customers. Prismatic Evolution continues to be a difficult set to obtain.
Speculation Station: What’s Next for the TCG?
While Mega Evolutions dominated headlines, whispers about returning mechanics like Ancient Traits have TCG players excited. With recent “nostalgia” sets on the horizon – that hark back to older mechanics (such as Battle Partners – and its upcoming English counterpart Journey Together) – perhaps we’ll see even more returning mechanics, and themes throughout 2025.
At WLC, we’re stocking up on retro and vintage singles to meet the demands of our customer base, and for all types of Pokémon enjoyers. In-store, we have Delta Species, LEGEND cards, and more! – so come take a look at our binders at our physical store location. Not everything we have in stock is currently up on our online store.
