Exciting News: “Prismatic Evolution” Special Set and “Supercharged Breaker” Reveals!

Pokémon TCG fans, get ready! 2025 is shaping up to be a huge year for collectors and players alike with the upcoming release of Prismatic Evolution, a Japanese set dropping in January. And, of course, the Pokémon TCG 2025 Preview: Trainer’s Pokémon and Team Rocket’s Comeback! – that we featured last month.

However, recent news suggests, that a new special set in January will be featuring everyone’s favorite Eeveelutions in their Terastallized forms.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated Supercharged Breaker expansion, due later this month, has just revealed all 106 main set cards, offering a glimpse into powerful strategies and fresh deck-building opportunities!

Prismatic Evolution: A Dream Come True for Eevee Fans

Slated for release in January 2025, Prismatic Evolution is already creating buzz thanks to its star attraction: Eeveelution ex cards in their Terastallized forms. Building off the theme of Japan’s Terastal Festival (which is also yet to be released) this set will likely feature a range of new tera-type Pokémon, continuing the pattern seen in previous sets like Stellar Crown and Paradise Dragona (Surging Sparks). Fans have loved the focus on Terastallization, a new mechanic introduced in the Scarlet & Violet expansions, and this set is expected to bring it to life in vibrant, collectible style.

Much like other special Pokémon TCG sets, like the recent Pokémon 151, Prismatic Evolution won’t offer individual booster packs for sale. Instead, collectors can get their hands on these exciting cards through a variety of themed products. The first wave of products, available on January 17th, includes:

  • Elite Trainer Box
  • Poster Collection
  • Three Tech Sticker Collections
  • Binder Collection

For many, the return of Eevee’s evolutions is particularly exciting. The Evolving Skies Eeveelution cards were some of the most sought-after and celebrated cards in recent years, with Umbreon VMAX (“Moonbreon”) leading the charge. This new set, featuring the next generation of Eeveelutions, could be another defining moment for the Pokémon TCG.

We recently put out a page on the history of Umbreon cards within the Pokémon TCG – going all the way back through the WOTC-era to the original “Moonbreon” – take a read here!

Supercharged Breaker: The Full Main Set Revealed

As the countdown to Supercharged Breaker continues, all 106 cards from the main set have been officially revealed ahead of the Japanese release on October 18th. This set is stacked with powerful ex Pokémon, including Pikachu ex and Hydreigon ex, and many more!

In addition there are two new Stadium cards and several Trainer cards, and Pokémon Tool cards which have also been revealed, offering fresh support for competitive play:

  • Clemont’s Wit heals 60 damage from each of your Lightning Pokémon, perfect for the many electric-type Pokémon in this set.
  • Jasmine’s Gaze reduces incoming damage to your Pokémon by 30, providing a sturdy defense in key matchups.
  • Cyrano lets players search for up to 3 Pokémon ex, which could be a game-changer for ex-heavy decks.

We’re also getting Ace Spec cards, high-powered items that players can only include one of in their deck. Cards like Amulet of Hope and Scramble Switch could find their way into the top decks of the format. Players looking to tech against Darkness and Metal-type decks will appreciate new tools like Colbur Berry and Babiri Berry, which reduce damage from specific types.

New Stadium Cards in Supercharged Breaker

The Supercharged Breaker set isn’t just about powerful Pokémon ex and Supporter cards—it also introduces two new Stadium cards that have the potential to shift gameplay strategies significantly. Stadium cards have always been key in shaping battle dynamics, and these new additions are no exception.

  • Excite Stadium (105/106)
This Stadium gives a solid boost to all Basic Pokémon in play by increasing their HP by 30. In a format where powerful Basic Pokémon ex and other Pokémon that don’t evolve are seeing more play, Excite Stadium could become a staple in many decks. Boosting HP can help Basic Pokémon survive crucial attacks and provide additional longevity on the battlefield, making it a solid choice for decks focused on aggressive, low-evolution strategies.
  • Gravity Mountain (106/106)
In contrast, Gravity Mountain targets Stage 2 Pokémon, reducing their maximum HP by 30. This can be a powerful disruption tool against decks that rely on bulky Stage 2 Pokémon, such as Hydreigon ex, or other evolution-based strategies. By weakening Stage 2 Pokémon, this Stadium might force opponents to rethink their long-term plans or limit their setup potential, giving the player controlling Gravity Mountain a tactical edge.

Both of these Stadiums could see play in competitive decks as they offer unique ways to either boost the survivability of Basic Pokémon or hinder high-HP evolution decks. How these cards integrate into the meta will depend on deck compositions in the coming months, but their versatility makes them likely contenders for various strategies. Stay tuned for more in-depth analysis once these cards hit competitive play!

Secret and Special Rares Coming Soon

Although we’ve seen the main set, the Secret Rares from Supercharged Breaker are yet to be fully revealed. Based on the recent card designs, these rare cards from the Pokémon Company just keep getting better and better, and they’ll surely been some sought after secrets rares within this new set. Fans should keep an eye out for alternate art versions of Jasmine and Cyrano, both of whom have already been confirmed for special treatment.

If you’re as excited as we are about Supercharged Breaker, now’s the time to start planning your pre-orders. For those who love collecting Japanese Pokémon TCG products, be sure to check out the Stellar Miracle and Paradise Dragona booster boxes that are still available.

Fans of alternate artwork will be pleased to know that Supercharged Breaker includes several beautiful Illustration Rares. Pokémon like Kecleon, Spheal, and Phanpy are getting the special art treatment, while Hydreigon ex will be a highlight for collectors and competitive players alike. With an impressive 330 HP and the ability to deal heavy damage to both active and benched Pokémon, Hydreigon ex is poised to be a powerful option in future tournaments.
